One varietal we’re trying to drink more of this year is Merlot. We have to admit, we’ve never been too into it, perhaps falling a bit into the Sideways trap (if you haven’t seen the movie yet, we highly recommend you check it out. It’s lighthearted and fun to watch).
This is a remarkable merlot. It has really nice depth and has a lot more character than most merlots. We received this in one of our shipments as part of Chimney Rock’s Wine Club (Retail $85)
On the Nose:
- Tart red cherries
- Orange zest
- Citrus
Taste Profile:
- Medium-dry
- Earthy
- Tangy
- Tart cherries
- Minty
- Graphite leather
It’s a fantastic wine that can be drunk by itself or paired with pretty much any dish. Do let it open up a bit in the glass as it is a pretty full wine.
We’ve also been learning how to enjoy our wine on more occasions, instead of waiting always for a special excuse.
